The false falx and tentorium sign: case report of subdural haematoma and sickle cells disease

چکیده
The increased density in the basal cisterns and the subarachnoid space on CT scans is a well-known characteristic of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Have been described diverse conditions that can emulate subarachnoid hemorrhage, such as purulent leptomeningitis, intrathecal contrast material and leak of high doses of intravenous contrast material to the subarachnoid space. We present the case of a male patient who presented a subdural hematoma in the setting of non-diagnosed sickle cell disease. To this patient was performed a panangiography which discard any aneurismal hemorrhage origin

SPINAL SUBDURAL HAEMATOMA WITH PARAPLEGIA MIMICKING DORSOLUMBAR PROLAPSED DISC- A RARE CASE REPORT
Background- Spinal subdural haematoma (SSH) is a rare condition with unknown incidence in the general population. Iatrogenic spinal subdural haematoma radiologically mimicking a prolapsed dorso-lumbar disc has not been published in the literature. Case presentation- A 65-yr-old female presented with altered sensorium and generalized weakness for 3 days was evaluated by Neurologist and diagn...
متن کاملFalx and interhemispheric fissure on axial CT: II. Recognition and differentiation of interhemispheric subarachnoid and subdural hemorrhage.
Interhemispheric hyperdensity or unenhanced computed tomography was originally considered a sign of subarachnoid hemorrhage, the "falx sign." It has since been identified as a normal feature and has also been seen with interhemispheric subdural hemorrhage. To determine the differential features of interhemispheric hemorrhage, 50 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage and 32 patients with interhe...
متن کاملOn Cranial Stress in the Fœtus during Labour and on the Effects of Excessive Stress on the Intracranial Contents; with an Analysis of Eighty-One Cases of Torn Tentorium Cerebelli and Subdural Cerebral Hæmorrhage *Part of an investigation, undertaken and paid for by the Local Government Board (late), into the "Causation of Fœtal Death."
THE frequent discovery of tears of the dura mater septa associated with subdural cerebral haemorrhage, in foetuses dying during the course of labour, was one of the most striking features of this investigation. Out of 168 fresh foetuses the tentorium cerebelliwas found torn in8i (48 per cent.), associated with tearing of the falx cerebri in five cases and with subdural cerebral haemorrhage in a...
متن کاملAspects of interhemispheric subdural haematoma, including the falx syndrome.
Two cases of interhemispheric subdural haematoma are reported. The first patient presented with a falx syndrome of contralateral hemiparesis, most marked in the lower extremity. The second patient had vertex headaches and was diagnosed with computerised tomography. Serial studies suggested that the interhemispheric haematoma may have migrated to a lateral position over the cerebral convexity.
متن کاملKernohan's Notch: A Forgotten Cause of Hemiplegia—CT Scans Are Useful in This Diagnosis
Hemiparesis ipsilateral to a cerebral lesion can be a false localizing sign. This is due to midline shift of the midbrain resulting in compression of the contralateral pyramidal fibers on the tough dural reflection tentorium cerebelli. This may result in partial or complete damage to these fibers. Since these fibers are destined to cross in the medulla and innervate the opposite side of the bod...
